Belfast's night sky will be bursting with eerie phantom lights this Halloween when the city council stages Northern Ireland's biggest-ever fireworks display.

The city streets will be haunted by a host of horrors dancing the night away to magical music at the 2007 Metro Monster Mash, Belfast City Council has promised.

More than 60 street entertainers and surprise spooks will be hanging around the main event at the Odyssey Arena, where music will be provided by the City of Belfast Youth Concert Band. And if you forget your broomstick, don't worry - a free shuttle bus service has been laid on.

Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers announced the delights in store for Wednesday, October 31, saying: "This year's event will offer a fantastic feast for the senses, with a crazy carnival, magical music and a truly magnificent fireworks display."

The main entertainment programme begins in the Odyssey car park at 7pm, with live music from the City of Belfast Youth Concert Band.

The evening culminates with the biggest fireworks display ever seen in Northern Ireland.
